Good evening everyone and Happy St. Patrick's Day! The photos are as follows: The lakeside walk around Te Anau, the Bush, Sailboats on Lake Te Anau, a lunch spot, ice covered mountains and a mountain view with the beach.
I hardly slept a wink last night in anticipation of seeing the glacial mountains and the town of TeAnau. It is a lovely village on the shores of the lake that bears its name. I arrived around 9:30 this morning and decided I would take a hike around the lake. The day was sunny and bright, around 65 degrees. I walked nearly around 1/2 of the lake with amazing vistas that would take your breath away. it was a bit breezy, so many boats were on the lake. As summer is coming to a close shortly here in the town at the base of the mountains, people, locals and tourists alike, are taking advantage of this great weather. I stopped and had lunch on the shores of a pebble shorn beach. The water sparkled as the water birds waded and ate their lunch as I ate mine. I walked across a spillway and on to Brod Beach. The entire trip took me about 5 hours. When I returned to town, I found a great cafe that served green salads and roasted pumpkin soup. Yum! The clouds are rolling in, and there is a storm headed this way, but I will be toasty warm and dry in my little bungalow. The weather forcast is for a lot of rain tonight, but it should clear by the time I get to Doubtful Sound for more spectacular sights tomorrow.
See you then,
Love,
Kerry
