Ah! The Blue Mountains!

Well, I have finally arrived in the place I love the most, the mountains. In this case, the Blue Mountains in Katoomba, Australia. Spectacular day! Blue skies, birds singing and I am hiking, or bush walking as they call it here. The birds are beautiful here! The white cockatoos and the rainbow lorikeets are loud and fly over head crying. For what, I don't know. I went by train to Katoomba this morning, arrived at my b and b and then headed out to walk. I went to Echo Point, 3 Sisters and then to Leura Cascades. I boarded a train, took a quick trip to Wentworth Falls and hiked around under cliffs to see sights thar are absolutely amazing! The land actually pushed up the rock about 50 Million years ago and created these low level mountains, about 600-1000 feet.

The tracks were very wet and muddy. Glad I had my LL Beans sandals. The trails were steep and led to views across the mountains and down into the valleys. Finally, I took the train back to Katoomba, grabbed a lttle hummus and falafel with pita and made my way back to the Kurrara Guesthouse. It is a quaint place surrounded by flowers and trees. My room is adorable! The woman who runs it is trying to sell. Perhaps I might think about it! What do you think?

Well, tomorrow it may rain, but I am prepared. Hope everyoneis having a great time at home.

Love,
Kerry

  1. Sounds like you are definitely keeping busy and having a great time! It does look beautiful there - Except for the snake, that is.... I would have been doing my "snake dance" had I come across it! :) Thanks for posting; I feel like I am "virtually" traveling with you..... Take care and see you later....
