Hey all,
Last night, I did go into the city to see Mardi-Gras, Aussie style. It was started as a protest against anti- gay discrimination and has grown into a million person, yes, you read that right, MILLION person parade. I watched and it was amazing. Lots of fun. People partied till dawn, I chose to go home to sleep.
The sun came out this morning, so what does a girl from Miami do? She goes to the beach! I spent the day walking from Bondi Beach to Bronte Beach on a lovely sunny walkway that traversed the coastline. There were sun kissed cliffs and surfers everywhere. People were on the beach for a day away from the incessant rain. The surf was high and it crashed on the rocks near the shore. There are a lot of runners here, all between the ages of 22-30. This is a healthy city.
After, I went back to the city and saw the Anzac Memorial which is for the soldiers of WW1, WW2, and all the wars since. It was built with private funds from the people so it was free to go in. Quite impressive.
Next, I went to the top of the Sydney Tower to see the birds eye view of the city. It was pretty spectacular. All views were clear and I actually recognized some of the landmarks I had visited in the past four days.
Finally, I walked through the Domain, a large park and the Royal Botanical Gardens, which were phenomenal. I even saw bats!
Tomorrow I will go by train south to continue my adventures. Hope to see you there.
Love,
Kerry
