Well, the day is still a bit wet, but I was out and about to Darling Harbour and points south and east of Sydney Central Business District.
The pictures below are: Glebe terrace house, Market City, China Town, the Chinese garden of Friendship, a Kookabura, me, counting sheep, and Darling Harbour.
I started out this morning on the train to center of the city. I marvelled as I went across the water to Sydney harbour. I walked to Darling Harbour, which is east and went across a pedestrian bridge where the harbour was in full "on mode". Of course, I had to walk through the raindrops, but managed to see a Kookaburra, not dancing, just trying to stay dry. I traversed the entire waterfront, past restaurants, the Maritime Museum, Wildlife Museum and the Aquarium. All had long lines, so I didn't stay, but walked on.
AS I left there, I went to the Chinese Garden of Friendship, which was a collaborative effort between the city of Sydney and one in China. It is a beautiful, serene and peaceful place to visit. The paths, waterfalls and rock sculptures are placed in stratigically places. Wonderful!
I went to Chinatown and Market City, where controlled chaos reigns. Vendors in the stalls or out in the open selling fruits, veggies and other foods were tremendous in size. The market sold everything from all the Asian countries, like clothing and souvenirs. A lot of fun!
I visited Glebe which is an eclectic group of cafes, restaurants, book stores and other wares and was quite delightful. Of course, I found an organic restaurant that served Vegetarian fare and I was a happy camper. Glebe has many older homes which the locals call terrace houses. They have french style balastrades or gingerbread style fronts. Lots of trees lined the streets. I finished the day at Glebe Point at the water front. (All roads seem to lead to the water)Took the bus and a train home. Lovely day!!! Tonight is the Mardi Gras Parade, but I won't be able to post photos and a blog until tomorrow.
Love,
Kerry
