Rainy Day in Sydney!

Well, after 10 hours of sleep, I felt great, so I decided to walk across the Harbour Bridge and down to Circular Quay and the Rocks. The Rocks are an area that has quaint shops, cafes and old hotels and buildings. I walked past a foodie market and tacky tourist places. It rained all day, so most of the time I put on my raincoat and stuffed my camera in the pocket. I didn't let a little, well, really quite a lot of rain, stop me. Tree lined streets abounded as well as narrow alleys with names like Nurses and Surgeons walks. Lovely stairs led up and down throughout the Rocks. Walked to the Opera House, which is the sentinel of the harbor with its white sails. A terrific feat of engineering.

Next I walked to the CBD or the Central Business District. Sydney is a melting pot of cultures, Asian, Australians and others. Thye streets are filled with shops and old buildings like the Queen Victorian Building, beautiful clockworks and shops everywhere on three floors. I ended the day at St. Phillips Gothic Church which had an old pipe organ on the side near the altar. What a great day! Tomorrow is the Mardi Gras parade.

Love,
Kerry
